Whitehaven Beach
Whitehaven Beach lies on the eastern shore of Whitsunday Island inside Whitsunday Islands National Park and is famous for its brilliant white silica sand. Turquoise water, tidal patterns and the surrounding tropical landscape give the beach its distinctive character. Visitors arrive by boat, canoe or kayak; the day-use area has picnic tables and non-flush toilets. Queensland Parks warns of crocodiles, marine stingers and sharks, so swimming conditions should be assessed locally.
