Illawong Beach
- Family friendly
Illawong Beach near Mackay is a quiet sandy shoreline extending for kilometres, with broad rippled sand surfaces appearing at low tide. It is used for sunrise walks, shore fishing and windsurfing, with views towards nearby islands and the Hay Point Coal Terminal in clear conditions. The Quota Park section provides toilets, barbecues, picnic tables, a playground and outdoor fitness equipment. Coastal vegetation and mangrove-lined creek mouths add a natural character, making the beach especially suited to relaxed walks, wildlife observation and low-key coastal recreation.
