Step Beach
Step Beach is a small coastal cove at Aireys Inlet, below Split Point Lighthouse on Victoria’s Bass Strait coast. Its sandy shore sits beside sandstone and basalt reef, rock platforms and tidal pools, giving it a more rugged character than a conventional surf beach. The cove can be reached by stairs from the lighthouse visitors’ car park, within the Eagle Rock Marine Sanctuary setting. Visitors come to explore rock pools, snorkel and swim when the tide and conditions suit. The beach is unpatrolled, so changing swell, rocks and the stepped access should be treated with care.
