Merewether Beach
- Surf spot
Merewether Beach is one of Newcastle’s established surf beaches and forms part of the coastal reserve between Dixon Park and Burwood Beach. Its sandy shore hosts Surfest and is recognised as a National Surfing Reserve, giving the beach a strong local and regional surfing identity. Merewether Ocean Baths nearby provide another saltwater option when ocean conditions are unsuitable for a swim. Parking, a kiosk, picnic areas, shade shelters, public toilets and showers support day visits. Wind and wave conditions can change, so visitors should check local warnings before entering the water.
