About this beach

Plai Laem is a narrow, west-facing beach on the western side of Koh Samui’s north-eastern cape, running north from opposite the Big Buddha on Ko Fan. Its coarse brown sand is mixed with coral fragments, and a small harbour shelters fishing and hire boats. The sea is usually calm but very shallow, with rocks and pieces of coral at the water’s edge, and at low tide the seabed is exposed far out.
