About this beach

Bang Rak, also called Big Buddha Beach, curves for about 3 km along Koh Samui’s north-east coast, from the Laem Mai Kaen cape to the causeway to the Big Buddha on Ko Fan. Boats to Koh Phangan leave from piers in its eastern half, and the airport lies just behind the shore. The sand is golden in the west and paler in the east; the ends are shallow with a muddy, rocky bottom, and the water is often murky.
