Bang Po stretches for about three kilometres along Koh Samui’s north coast, between Thong Plu Bay and Ban Tai. Its coarse yellow sand is shaded by palms and other trees. At low tide the sea pulls back only about ten metres, while shallow water with coral growth over a stony, sometimes muddy bottom extends well offshore. Thai cafés and sea-view restaurants sit along the road behind.
