Phang Ka is a calm bay of about 600 m on Koh Samui’s less developed southwest coast, near Thong Krut, with a few resorts behind it. The water is very shallow: at low tide a wide sandy flat dries out and deeper water is a long walk away, so reef shoes are useful. Boats from kayaks to speedboats can be hired on the beach, and tours run to nearby Koh Tan and Koh Madsum.
