About this beach

Ao Thung Makham Yai is the larger of the two Thung Makham bays south of Chumphon town: a long, gently curving strip of pale sand, roughly three to four kilometres, lined with coconut palms. A rocky headland separates it from Thung Makham Noi and its ferry pier, Wat Khao Phong Phang stands at the southern end, and Ko Lawa and Ko Rang Ka Chiu lie offshore.
