Ao Son is a curving bay on Koh Tarutao’s west coast, about 8 km from the national park headquarters, where sandy stretches alternate with rocky shore; its longest beach runs for about 3 km. Sea turtles come ashore here to nest. A small campsite sits beside the park ranger station, and the nearby Lu Du and Lo Po waterfalls suit nature walks. The park closes to visitors each year during the south-west monsoon.
