About this beach

Ao Makham is a remote bay on the south-west coast of Koh Tarutao, within Tarutao National Park. A narrow beach about 900 metres long runs below densely forested hills, and the surrounding forest is rich in birdlife. Access is by boat only; rough south-west monsoon seas can make the crossing difficult and the park usually closes in that season, so current park announcements should be checked.
