Ao Mae Mai is the bay in front of Koh Phayam’s main pier on the east coast, where the island’s largest village gathers seafood restaurants, shops and guesthouses. A sandy shore runs along both sides of the pier, and to the north a walkway leads out to the ordination hall of Wat Ko Phayam, built over the sea. Boat traffic around the piers calls for care.
