Ao Kao is a long sandy beach on the south-west coast of Koh Mak. With neighbouring Ao Kratueng it forms one of the island's two main beach areas and is the busiest stretch, though still quiet. Resorts line the shore, with small restaurants and shops on the road behind. It is one of the island's sunset spots. Koh Kood and the Rayang islets are clearly visible from the shore, and rocky patches draw fish and anglers.
