About this beach
Ao Bang Charu is a sandy bay on Koh Phangan’s south coast, just east of Thong Sala, the island’s main port town. Its shore of around 2 km faces Koh Samui and forms the western end of the long, continuous beach that runs on through Ban Tai and Ban Khai. The water is shallow and shelves very gently, and at low tide long sections of the shoreline can be walked.
