Thirroul Beach

Thirroul Beach is a one-kilometre, east-facing sandy beach in the northern Wollongong suburb of Thirroul. A short walk from the town centre, it has a kiosk, café, picnic and barbecue areas, parking, toilets and showers, plus an Olympic-sized saltwater pool beside the beach. The open coast receives swell from most directions and has little wind protection at either end; Sandon Point moderates southern swells and winds to some extent. Surf and swimming conditions vary, so check local warnings before entering the water and plan around your ability.
