Fitzroy River Beach
Fitzroy River Beach begins where the Fitzroy River reaches the sea and continues as a long sandy shoreline. Low coastal foredunes rise behind the beach, while Julia Reef offshore can slightly reduce wave energy in parts of the coast. Public access is through Fitzroy River Mouth Coastal Reserve, with a walking track of about 500 metres from the car park to the beach. Westerly winds and strong waves are possible, so assess sea conditions carefully before swimming or walking the shore.
