Hope Beach

Hope Beach is an approximately five-kilometre sandy beach at South Arm near Hobart, on the eastern side of the Derwent estuary. Facing south-east into Storm Bay, it is exposed to southerly swells, and rips are known in the area. The western end is reached from Roaring Beach Road and the eastern end from the Goats Bluff car park. Walking, jogging, water activities and surfing when conditions suit are established uses, with open dunes and broad coastal views. Before entering the water, assess the waves, wind and currents; the experience depends on conditions and ability.
