Frenchmans Bay is a small, sandy beach on a calm bay in La Perouse, opening into Botany Bay in Sydney’s south-east. The shore looks west across Botany Bay and south towards Kamay Botany Bay National Park, giving it a distinctive setting among Sydney’s beaches. Frenchmans Bay Reserve sits directly behind the beach with public toilets, a fenced children’s playground, picnic tables, barbecues, shade and a coastal walkway; shops and restaurants are nearby. The sheltered setting is suited to swimming, relaxed family outings and shoreline walks, while the beach is listed as unpatrolled and local rules prohibit alcohol, glass and dogs on the sand. The area also carries strong Aboriginal and early colonial history around La Perouse.
