Merlin Beach is a quiet cove of golden sand on the headland south of Patong, framed by coconut palms and low hills and shared with a single large resort. Visitors who are not staying there reach it along a small dirt lane beside the resort. A near-shore reef makes the water shallow and rocky at low tide, but it also offers good snorkelling among reef fish.
