Long Beach runs for about 10 km along the west coast of Koh Phra Thong, facing the Andaman Sea. Casuarina and coconut palms back parts of the sand, with melaleuca woodland and savanna-like grassland inland. The island is an important sea turtle nesting site. Thung Dap village lies inland of the southern end, and access is by longtail boat from Khura Buri. Waves and currents can be strong.
