Laem Luang Beach, known locally as the ‘first grain of sand’, marks the point where the muddy mangrove shores of the upper gulf give way to sand. Its sandy shore stretches about 2 km to the tip of the cape, with mangroves and a lagoon behind it and a row of breakwaters offshore. Both sunrise and sunset can be seen here, and birdwatching and fishing are among the things to do.
