Windermere Beach

Windermere Beach is a sandy, locally oriented swimming beach on the Derwent estuary at Claremont, in Hobart’s northern suburbs. Access is best via Knights Point Reserve and Windermere Beach Road, with the foreshore route threading through saltmarsh, open parkland, sheltered bays and she-oak bush tracks. The area suits walking, cycling, dog walking on authorised sections of the connected track and swimming in appropriate conditions rather than surf pursuits. Because runoff can affect the estuary, avoid swimming for two days after heavy rain and stay clear of stormwater outlets; a foreshore car park serves the area.
