Stokes Bay Beach

Stokes Bay Beach lies on Kangaroo Island’s north coast, where a white sandy shore is concealed behind a boulder passage. Visitors reach the beach by walking east of the bay and threading through the headland rocks; the reward is a rock-enclosed pool with calmer, shallow water for swimming and snorkelling. The open beach can be rougher, so the sheltered pool and the exposed shoreline should not be treated as equivalent swimming environments. Its secluded setting and national recognition make it one of the island’s standout coastal stops.
