Fang Daeng Beach, also called Hat Pha Daeng, lies below a line of rust-red laterite cliffs at Ban Fang Daeng on the Bang Saphan Noi coast; its name means 'red shore'. Iron in the ancient sediment colours the east-facing cliffs, which waves have carved into patterns, and rock over 240 million years old breaks the surface at the southern end. The seabed is uneven, with sudden deep holes, so take care in the water.
