The Basin

The Basin is a sandy swimming cove on Wadjemup / Rottnest Island, about a ten-minute walk from the main settlement. Formed around a naturally hollowed reef, it combines soft white sand with clear turquoise water and close-to-shore snorkelling among fish, coral and other marine life. Outdoor showers, BBQs, drinking water and toilets are available beside the beach. When conditions are calm, its protected water can suit children and beginners, but wind, tides and personal ability still matter.
