Seventy Five Mile Beach

Seventy Five Mile Beach is a broad sandy ocean beach running for about 47.9 kilometres along K'gari’s eastern coast. It is also the island’s main thoroughfare, so beach travel requires a high-clearance 4WD, a vehicle access permit and careful timing around low tide. The Maheno wreck, rock pools, rainforest scenery and seasonal whale sightings are among its defining features. The eastern shore is exposed to the ocean, and waves, currents and vehicle traffic require care around the beach and water.
