Turner Beach is a small public beach park at the southern tip of Captiva Island, just over the Blind Pass Bridge from Sanibel. Swimmers should stay away from the pass and the bridge, where the water deepens quickly and strong undertows can occur; safer conditions are found farther along the beach. Across the pass, at Blind Pass Beach Park on the Sanibel side, swimming is not permitted because of dangerous currents in the channel. Hurricane recovery work is ongoing, and buried debris may still be present along the shoreline and in the water. The soft-sand beach is known for sunsets, shelling and fishing from the shore and the rock jetty; a saltwater fishing licence is required and dogs are not allowed. Facilities include restrooms, outdoor showers and 28 parking spaces with paid mobile parking, and the park is open 24 hours a day.
