San Martín is a long, narrow strip of sand and pebbles, about 1 km long and only some 10 m wide, running along the town of Santoña. The water is calm, with a promenade alongside and an anchorage area. It lies within the Santoña marshes Natural Park area and is reached on foot or by car.
