About this beach
Peñarronda is a wide stretch of sand at Tapia de Casariego, about 600 m long and 315 m wide, named after the rock standing in its middle. Surfers often come here for good waves. Swell is moderate and the beach can be windy; the area is a Natural Monument and is also covered by Natura 2000 protection (SPA and SCI).
